Welcome to my Sunroom
Hi Everyone! Come on in and relax for a bit. Fall is definitely here in Chicagoland! The days are getting shorted and the plants seem to know it.
Tips and Treasures
I’m very excited to share the interview I did with Anne Nicholas, last year (2019) at the AVSA convention in Houston, Texas. I think you’re going to enjoy meeting her and learning some of her secrets to growing the little ones!
A Look at What’s On the Stands
A good long look for you today since it’s been nearly a month since we’ve seen each other!
Get the Bail Money Ready!
In 2021 the AVSA’s annual convention will be in Atlanta, Georgia.
If you have photos of your plants and/or growing spaces that you’d like to share for the website, now would be an excellent time to send them in.

I think you had this interview before? It’s always good to hear from a semi grower. I live in central Texas, actually about 2 hours NW of San Antonio, and semis do very well for me. I also have some semi trailers that are now in 6 inch pots! Ah, Texas Space Dust. Semis do well for me but minis not so much. I got Texas Space dust not realizing it was a mini not a semi. It grew well, but never produced a lot of blooms. The 3rd time I repotted it, it got sickly and I tossed it. Oh, well, it made more room for that huge semi trailer. Always so nice to see what is on your stands!
Hi Kitty! No, this interview has not aired before. I did mention it shortly after National last year, but it did not air until now :-)
How do you keep from losing the soil mix out of all of those holes? Do you use large perlite or a small bit of paper towel or ??? Thank you for the interviews & view of the shelves. I’ve learned a lot from watching them.
Hi Katherine – I’m so glad you are enjoying the podcast! I use coarse perlite in the bottom of all my pots. A few pieces come through the holes from time to time, but mostly the pieces are large enough that they don’t fall out.
